a 12 ft burmese python that weighed 75 lbs. We promptly jumped on it.

Not exactly strange since it was in the everglades but dang, thats just not North american at all!

The strangest thing I've seen in the forest is the "Rainbow People". First time I seen them was in the Shawnee Forest in southern Il during one of our trail rides in the fall.  These people are from all over the United States and abroad, one week out of the year to go to different National Parks and spend a week .....quote...." living free"........ It is quite a site to see, with small communities like, set up, with tents, happy070.gif and sometimes no tents and sleeping on the bare ground. They not only sleep on the bare ground , but if they want to ....."make luv".... censored.gif They dont care if  you see them as you ride by on the trail or not. Lots of them walk around without clothes on anyway, and dont care what others think.  8|
When you come to their "village" sorta speak..... they invite you in to eat or drink with them and you can also take stuff in with you to trade for some of the things they offer, like food or drink and some even have jewelry to sell or trade.
Anyway if you want to know more about them, just type in Rainbow People in the search engine. :scared:

Most of them are very friendly people as they are doctors, lawyers, white collar workers, as well as ordinary people. There were a few that were arrested for drunkeness the last time we seen them down there, but most are alright.
I'm sure they do go to Fla on occassion.

Below is a picture of something kentuckyWoodsman and I spotted on a trail in Va. some time back.
We was around 2 miles or more in when we saw it.
Now some would find it to be a MIRAGE, some a gift from God.
Luckily for us we didnt have to use it, but it was strange to see it that far along the trail.

wow that is all great stuff to experience.
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.-henry David Thoreau

My strangest in "urban woods": Two dudes having sex on a log.
Strangest in the real woods: Getting charged by wild llamas in the foothills of the Bolivian Altiplano.  I don't like llamas.

They spend a week there ever so many years living FREE as they say............ Its quite a sight. Matter of fact.....they are there right now til Oct 14th. happy070.gif

The NJ Pine Barrens are rumored to have all sorts of odd groups who don't want to be found. I have not come across them yet.

I found some odd symbols painted on some trees (Runes) This was after Blair witch came out. I used to see a lot of traffic after dark late at night on the power line roads.
Well we’re gathered together, at the sunrise of never,
To bring witness to the good big sky

Yah jokers, ya con men, ya real estate salesmen
To bring witness to the day we all die

Wahhhhh, wah, wah-wahh wah-wahh- waaaaaaaaaah

A guy with a skateboard lashed to his pack. We passed each other at least 10-15 miles from any pavement. Sure did look odd.And I was outbound.
