Looked like a barn owl, Dave.  Was it?
Its an earless owl Bob and with the white face without a black border around the face so I believe your right "Barn Owl"

Would it be helpful if the number of photos were unlimited that you could post.

That would maybe help but I don't think that would work well, that would lead to too many pictures.

Never too many pictures of animals.  Don't go hog wild, but display some nice, and different pics.

Good enough I don't have to guess. Besides, plenty of time and by the looks of things, that little guy liked you.

easy for you to say.. i live in a desert the kind of animals we have you don't realy want to find.  Rattlers are not fun to run into, and i've ran into them twice.

Visitors at the bird feeder....

House Finch (male)

From left to right:
female House Finch, male House Finch, Black Capped Chickadee (how do we know it isn't a Carolina Chickadee?), and Whitebreasted Nuthatch (top)

If this stinking computer had a good photo editor, I would have cropped the second photo better.   :glare:  You can see how the Whitebreasted Nuthatch came by its nickname, the "Upsidedown Bird."  Nuthatches are, I'm pretty sure, the only birds able to walk head-first down a tree.
