I sent about 5 WS geocoins to Hawaii via a friend visiting there over the holidays. It should be interesting to see where they go!

Two of mine are snowed in now as I had placed them up in the Sierra Nevadas.

Can you put these in any normal sized cache, or does it have to be specially marked to accept geo coins?

You can put them in any cash that is big enough. We have lots more mini caches around that only hold a log sheet.

I have only found 1 cache so far that has stuff inside, I'm gonna put my geocoin in that one, but it'll have to wait awhile due to deer hunting inside the park...

Ashley and I placed "Holly's WS Geocoin #1" off one of the trails at Grandfather Mountain, NC yesterday!  It was SO much fun!  I put the geocoin in a ziplock bag with a small notepad, pencil, and pencil sharpener.  Then I put the ziplock bag in a clear, square, sandwich sized Tupperware container with "www.geocaching.com" written on the top of it.  Happy hunting!

Coin Tracking Number PCHC4C

Here are some pics from our day on Grandfather Mountain!

It was VERY foggy on the way up to the mountains.

The sun came out briefly and burned off most of the fog, then it got cold and windy and very overcast!

Here's Ashley, bundled up against the cold!

And here's me, standing on the very edge of the cliff, just to scare myself and Ashley.  LOL!

We went halfway down Grandfather Mountain to the 2nd parking lot where the trailheads start.  Here is Ashley, standing near our "jumping off point" for hiding the geocoin.  My car is located at:
N 36*05.721'
W 081*49.761'
Elevation: 5008 feet

View of the trail near where we hid the geocoin

A cool vein of quartz I saw in some granite

Some of the rocks we had to navigate around on the trail

Looking down at the location of the geocoin

This is looking back up at the trail from the geocoin location

There it is!

Great stuff Holly, I need to get out and place mine, maybe start a new geo cache.  I think I may have to wait until it warms up though, I wanna put mine on a gravel road, but its currently frozen.

Thanks, Swede!

I filled out the new cache info and submitted it.  I got an email back saying it would take about 36-72 hours for someone to review my submission before they publish it online.

This is SO much fun!  There are loads of caches around Charlotte.  Ashley and Hampton and I are going to go find some more this week.

OH NO!  I GOT MY FIRST SPANKING FROM GEOCACHING!

Evidently, the State of North Carolina is in negotiation with the owners of Grandfather Mountain to purchase it for a new state park.  I have to go retrieve the geocoin and get permission from the ranger's station if I want to put it back.

I guess I'll be spending my next Saturday up at Grandfather Mountain, looking for my own cache!

Bad Holly! don't you read the rules!  happy097.gif i'm just giving you a hard time.

if it's not a state park yet then you have to get the permission from the private property owners.

That's so awesome Holly! See, isn't this nerdy stuff fun!

Ok, I have 2 more WildSurvive geocoins out in cacheland....

The first one is:

TB1WEH8 and I placed it in cache GC1BPBA (Just Ducky).

The second is:

TB1WEH3 and I placed that one in cache GC1D6XR (A Lesson From the Past)

Both of these are in Southern California and I placed on the way back from my trip to New Mexico. Oh, and I put several wooden WildSurvive geocoins in various caches in Arizona and New Mexico.
