Mint????
« on: July 07, 2012, 11:06:01 AM »
I have this plant in my yard. I am pretty sure it is a mint of some sort so we transplanted it to our garden area. But it is small and doesn't smell very strong. Does anyone know if it is a mint, what kind of mint or is it something else?  Or is it a don't eat that you will die a horrid painful death type thing?  Thanks!

mints have square stems (cross sectioned.) it looks like a mint, does it have any distinct smell, even if faint.

i dont know which i like better, a sunrise or a sunset, but any day i get to see both is a good day.

That's where it is tough.....it has a faint mint smell....but not strong enough to say, Peppermint or Spearmint.  It is still a pretty small plant.

could be spearmint, we have a lot of peppermint growing around here, but its very aromatic. i grew some spearmint in my garden at home and was disappointed at how little it smelled or tasted.   this is the sure way to tell mint family at least.

Thanks! Most mint I have encountered is pretty strong. This is very faint which lead me to think spearmint.
