« on: October 20, 2015, 10:32:42 AM »
I come across a video on YouTube on how to make a catfish bait using hotdogs jello and garlic powder

Basically u take a cheap pack of hot dogs cut them in half put into a Ziploc bag with roughly six tablespoons of garlic powder and one box of jello he used strawberry in his I used lime in mine.

I set two bank lines and a yoyo yesterday afternoon using this bait I checked my lines this morning and I found this on my yoyo

Roughly ten pound carp my largest catch on a yoyo and my first carp on a yoyo

Yea that's first one from this lake I used to catch buckets of them when I lived in Florida back in 05

They seem to be liking this hotdog bait I run thru several commercial and several homemade catfish baits this is the only one consistently catch fish

So far this hotdog bait seems to be the only bait I have made actually catching fish.

I got several more catfish baits I found in YouTube videos but none of them have actually caught fish.

We used to make dough ball bait for carp.

Step 1
Mix equal parts flour and corn meal in a bowl--for example, 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup corn meal.
Step 2
Put the same amount of water (in this case, 1/2 cup) into a pot. Add a liquid flavor or scent, such as vanilla, licorice or garlic. Start with 1 tbsp. of flavor, but you can add more if desired. Boil the water and scent mixture.
Step 3
Add the flour and corn meal to the pot once the water boils. Turn the heat down to simmer and remove from the heat once the water has been completely absorbed.
Step 4
Knead the dough with your hands until you get your desired consistency. Then roll the dough into small balls, making the balls the right size for your hook and fish size.We used treble hooks.

You can substitute sour milk for the water.

I found a recipe similar to that for catfish but it adds chicken liver puree and a can of mackerel
